Service is how I create meaning in life. Completing the coursework for a Master of Public Administration with a certificate in Non-Profit Management gave me skills to serve the community better.
On July 6, 2012, I sold my car and committed to bicycle commuting for at least a year. My young children and I continued this for nearly five years before life circumstances required me to start driving again. Going car-free was life-changing in the best way. This decision freed up significant monthly funds, making buying a home possible, and we relished riding together. It brought us closer together, strengthened our community ties, and improved both our physical and mental well-being. This also led me to chair Bike Friendly Fort Worth to improve conditions for vulnerable road users. While the non-profit no longer operates, I still believe it's important to share the work I did during that time.
