Elisabet S. Westbye

What am I doing here?

This is the landing pad for all of my projects and ventures. I’ve accumulated a wide variety of work and education experience, have a truly mind-boggling number of practical (and not so practical) skills, and a cluster of autoimmune disorders that frequently complicate my plans. While it may seem like I’m a bit all over the place at times, I promise there is a common theme and direction. Join me on this wild adventure.

Professional Background

I am a seasoned professional (that means I'm getting old) adept at developing and maintaining detailed processes that reduce redundancy, improve accuracy, and efficiently achieve organizational objectives. My most well-developed skills are data management, analysis, and streamlining processes. I love getting to know how things work and why, then making them better. The years I spent coordinating civil engineering projects have given me the skills to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently.

Education Background

I have a passion for transportation equity and making the world a little kinder place for everyone.  I believe that improving educational outcomes will make our community a better place to live and that it’s never too late to learn. I have a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston, and in 2021, I completed the coursework for a Master of Public Administration at Villanova University with a certificate in Non-Profit Management.  I sought the MPA to improve my ability to assist local bicycle-based non-profit organizations.  In 2023, I began working toward a culinary arts degree specializing in baking and pastry.

Vision for the Future

In 2023 I was diagnosed with dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disorder that attacks skin and muscle. It affects my energy level and makes me highly photosensitive (sunlight is my nemesis). In 2025, I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Before I started treatment, I was forced to carefully select what I used my limited energy for. I identified my core values and the "why" for everything I do. Now that I'm starting to feel a little better, my work will still be centered on bringing satisfaction and delight to the world.
